On October 28, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko took part in the International Documentary Film Festival “RT Documentary: Time of Heroes”, held at the Cairo Opera House.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador congratulated RT on the 20th anniversary of its founding, praising the channel’s commitment to honest and transparent journalism, which has earned it wide popularity in Egypt and across the Arab world.
He highlighted the active growth of Russian–Egyptian cooperation in the field of cinema, noting that Russian films now regularly participate in Egyptian film competitions and are screened in local theaters. Moreover, joint film productions have recently been revived, marking a promising new chapter in cultural collaboration.
Ambassador Borisenko expressed hope that such festivals would become a lasting tradition, giving Egyptian audiences a deeper understanding of Russian culture and a closer view of the nation’s current events and creative spirit.
