 In 1978, the occupation began by planting scattered fake graves in the “Saludha” area and the middle quarter in Silwan, and then extended to include the Wadi al-Rababa neighborhood, meters away from the residential houses, and other areas, all the way to the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood, claiming that they were “cemeteries for Jews.”

 Since that date to this day, the Israeli occupation has planted about 12,800 fake graves in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, 32% of them in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, including 935 in Wadi Al-Rababa neighborhood in Silwan, of which more than 50 graves were newly placed in the neighborhood’s lands. .

 The planning and implementation of the tomb planting are supervised by the occupation municipality, the so-called Ministry of “Jerusalem Affairs and Religions,” the “Antiquities Authority,” the “Elad” settlement association, and Jewish burial associations and companies.

 A member of the Defense Committee for Silwan, researcher Fakhri Abu Diab, says: “Fake graves are a means invented by the official occupation establishment and its Judaizing arms to seize more Jerusalem lands, specifically empty lands and flats, and prevent Jerusalemites from expanding and building.”

 He added: “Through this, the Jerusalem population centers are besieged, and it becomes a means by which Israeli law allows them to seize and seize lands that they claim have a Jewish and historical heritage, including religious places and symbols, including cemeteries. The occupation through fake graves on more than 620 dunums, and then began placing fake graves with shallow pits and stones on the land that is being seized.”

 He added: “This Judaization tool has a political dimension by establishing settlement and Judaization projects on it in the future, and according to the occupation law, when fake graves are placed anywhere in Jerusalem, they can demolish homes or close roads close to these fake graves, as they closed a main road from the Silwan area towards Papi Lions and Column. There is also a religious ideological use of these graves, as they are evidence of the existence of civilization and population groups, and therefore they wanted to tell the world that these tombs and these graves indicate that the Jews lived in Jerusalem 2000-3000 years ago, and other graves indicate the Jewish presence in Jerusalem a thousand years ago. A year or more, and this is a kind of attempt to brainwash visitors to Jerusalem and promote narratives and falsify and falsify history,” noting that the occupation intends to change the identity of Jerusalem and the scene in it, specifically in the vicinity of the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
