NEW DELHI — On Sunday, September 13, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriates, engaged in a series of key bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. He met with prominent foreign ministers, including Mr. Wang Yi (China), Mr. Sergey Lavrov (Russia), Mr. Abbas Araghchi (Iran), Mr. Sugiono (Indonesia), Mr. Mukhtar Tileuberdi (Kazakhstan), and Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar (India).
Against the backdrop of rapid regional developments, the ministers exchanged strategic insights on pressing regional and international issues of mutual interest. They underscored the urgent need for continued, coordinated efforts to de-escalate tension, contain conflict, and foster sustainable regional stability.
Furthermore, the leaders highlighted the critical role of the BRICS framework in reinforcing Global South cooperation and championing a more balanced, equitable international order—a transformation vital for advancing sustainable development and advancing the interests of developing nations.
During the discussions, Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s steadfast diplomatic efforts to mitigate regional escalation and resolve ongoing crises through political negotiations. He called for intensified diplomatic engagement and robust international coordination to safeguard global maritime navigation, ensure the uninterrupted flow of international trade, and protect resilient supply chains—key pillars for securing long-term global stability and economic peace.
